Frank Del Vecchio is the Chief Operating Officer of AMBER Ready. Mr. Del Vecchio also currently serves as the Deputy Police Chief of the Fairview Police Department in Bergen County, New Jersey. Mr. Del Vecchio began his career in law enforcement and emergency services over twenty years ago. During that time he has served in many of the divisions in the department, including, Patrol Division, Detective Division, Juvenile and DARE Division and also served as a Supervisor in the Community Policing Division. Mr. DelVecchio was responsible for implementing various programs aimed at assisting at-risk youth, as well as dealing with cases of missing and runaway children. He rose through the ranks and left the Fairview Police Dept. as a Captain in 2003, after being appointed by Bergen County Executive Dennis McNerney as the Director of Public Safety for Bergen County and the Director of the Law and Public Safety Institute (Police, Fire and EMS Academies). In his position as Director he oversaw several divisions, including the Bergen County Law and Public Safety Institute, Bergen County Police Dept., Division of Consumer Protection, Bergen County Medical Examiners Office, Office of Emergency Management, Division of Weights and Measures and the Office of Highway Safety. The Bergen County Dept. of Public Safety employed nearly 300 people with a budget over 21 million dollars. Mr. Del Vecchio streamlined and cut the budget within the department by 15%, he also oversaw several public safety initiatives, such as improved communications for emergency services, created several interoperability initiatives, streamlined and consolidated 911 and dispatch services for municipal departments, as well as several initiatives aimed at improving training for our Police, Fire and EMS agencies. Mr. Del Vecchio developed programs and reorganized the Division of Consumer Protection to protect consumers throughout Bergen County and also began an education initiative aimed toward protecting seniors. He implemented several youth safety and outreach initiatives countywide. Mr. Del Vecchio serves on several committees and boards, such as the Bergen County Community College Criminal Justice Advisory Board, he is the Chairperson for the Fairview Municipal Alliance, he has given several talks about crime in suburbia and general policing. In 2005 Mr. Del Vecchio returned to his current position as the Deputy Police Chief of the Fairview Police Department, but continues to be involved in all aspects of emergency services throughout the county. Mr. Del Vecchio is a member of several police organizations and has enabled AMBER Ready to gain their support as well as receive commendations from the Bergen County Sheriff of New Jersey. Mr. Del Vecchio is currently with AMBER Ready to create legislation to provide child safety initiatives, as well as educating parents in child safety and working with law enforcement on enhancing and handling their response to the call of a missing child.
