MAUREEN MAHER stops by to talk about whats coming up on 48 HOURS!

Maureen Maher is an American television news reporter and correspondent, currently TV host of 48 Hours Mystery.

Maher was born in the state of Michigan, just outside of Detroit. Her birth parents were high school seniors unable to provide for Maureen and subsequently giving her up for adoption. In 1991, she graduated from Loyola University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications. She currently lives in Chicago, Illinois.

Starting her broadcasting career with a Chicago based WLUW (FM) as morning drive news anchor in 1991, Maher then moved to Detroit in 1992 where she worked as a reporter for a Detroit based WJBK-TV and WWJ (AM), the CBS owned radio station until 1995. In 1995–1997, Maher worked as a news anchor for WJRT-TV in Michigan, covering breaking news, including Oklahoma City bombing and Decker farm raid. In 1997–2002, she was a Chicago-based CBS Newspath correspondent and covered many notable stories such as Impeachment of Bill Clinton, the Kosovo crisis, and release of US servicemen in Albania.

Maher then moved to Dallas and worked as a CBS News correspondent in 1999–2002, reporting for CBS Evening News on War on Terror, fall of Taliban in Afghanistan, the 2002 Kenyan hotel bombing, Enron scandal and natural disasters taking place in US.

Among her notable reports are Scott Peterson murder trial and a 2003 Chicago porch collapse resulting in deaths of 13 people. In 2003, Maher was assigned to host 48 HOURS MYSTERY, a CBS production true crime documentary and news program broadcast.

...then Jimmy Mac joins the gang for some football handicapping!

Former bookie Jimmy Mac is a native of Jersey (“The only state which you don’t have to say the ‘New!’” as he’s fond of saying) and grew up with the real Sopranos. He even dated at least one of their daughters. His father owned a horsemeat slaughterhouse, so Jimmy is an expert with the ponies – though is still awaiting an endorsement deal from PETA. An accomplished wordsmith, he was excited to get into the publishing world but then found out what “bookmaking” really means. Nevertheless, it was a fateful miscommunication as he quickly discovered that his true talent was predicting the outcomes of sporting events. He is both feared and revered in Las Vegas, where he still receives comps from some of the best casinos in town. Though now retired from the bookmaking business, he runs a very successful light bulb distribution company and every week watches more college and professional football games than are actually played.
